The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum Induction Ceremony weekend is October 5-6.
August 15, 2007

US - Make plans to attend the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum's biggest weekend of the year, including the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the Concours d'Elegance, and a special after-hours reception in the Museum.

This special weekend of activities begins Friday evening, October 5, with the Evening of Stars and Legends Reception at the Museum. It's your chance to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while mingling with current and past Hall of Fame inductees, in addition to viewing the Museum's current exhibits.

Activities continue Saturday morning and afternoon with the Sixth Annual Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum Concours d'Elegance, a juried show where only the most compelling original or painstakingly restored vintage motorcycles are invited to participate. Last year (see photo above), more than 100 exceptional motorcycles spanning all eras and marques vied for trophies and honors.

This year, the Concours will feature a special category for Rickman-framed motorcycles, in recognition of the induction of Derek and Don Rickman into the Hall of Fame. Owners of Rickman motorcycles, whether street, competition, or custom, are invited to contact Museum Executive Director Mark Mederski at (614) 856-2222 about bringing their machines to the 2007 Concours to be judged by the Rickman brothers themselves.

Then, on Saturday evening, the highlight event of the weekend takes place: The 2007 Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet.

This year, the ceremony is being held at a new location to comfortably accommodate the growing number of people attending the banquet. The new location is the Hilton Columbus at the Easton Town Center, 3900 Chagrin Drive, Columbus, Ohio. The Hilton is located conveniently near the Port Columbus International Airport on the east side of Columbus and is just an easy 20-minute drive by interstate highway from the Museum in Pickerington.

Coat and tie are required for the ceremony and banquet, which are preceded by a cocktail reception at 6 p.m.

The Hall of Fame class of 2007 features racers, designers, a path-breaking academic and a tireless activist among the 12 honorees. This year's inductees are:

Rex Beauchamp, flat-track racer
Bob Greene, magazine editor and off-road racer and organizer
Pat Hennen, the first American to win a 500cc World Grand Prix
Professor Hugh H. "Harry" Hurt, award-winning author and leader of the groundbreaking "Hurt Report" study of motorcycle crashes
Mike Kiedrowski, four-time AMA Motocross champion
Sammy Miller, trials competitor, designer and historian
Trampas Parker, two-time World Motocross champion
Derek and Don Rickman, designers of the famed motorcycle frames that carry their name
Orie Steele, Sr., national hillclimb champion in the 1920s
Billy Uhl, ISDT medal winner, off-road instructor and activist
Ed Waldheim, off-road motorcycle activist

Join these legends and other fans of motorcycling for a full weekend of events at the Museum.
